Taking place at Camden’s Roundhouse on August 20th, tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday June 15 from Ticketline, Stargreen.com, Roundhouse.org.uk, able2uk.com and the Roundhouse box office for an advance price of £30 with all profits going to the Able2 UK organisation.
Money raised from the concert will be handed out to music promoters and venues across the UK to improve on their facilities for those with disabilities and improving on their disability friendly areas. The new areas will replace the standard disabled viewing platforms at UK festivals for those in wheelchairs and those who require special seating arrangements, hearing loops and provide an easier way to purchase refreshments at live events as well as protection from the sun (visors, hats etc.) and cold weather (extra blankets etc.) if required.Able2 UK founder, Howard Thorpe said: “Having cerebral palsy myself, it saddens me that to date I can not name any live music event dedicated to disability.“Disabled people still face discrimination albeit offending remarks in public or, even worse, those who do not understand the vast achievements most disabled people are capable of. There is also a lack of accessible requirements at many live music events.”Oscar nominated actor/producer Mark Walhberg has commissioned a film piece to draw attention to Thorpe’s efforts to raise awareness and funds for the cause, which can be viewed here.
