Arctic Monkeys releasing James Ford-produced album this year
Alex Turner and co have already started work on album four
Arctic Monkeys have started work on their fourth album with producer James Ford - and are hoping to release it later this year.
NME understands that the Sheffield four-piece started sessions at the end of 2010 in London, and are continuing work on it in Los Angeles.
Alex Turner and are reportedly hoping release the album in late spring at the earliest.
The new record will be the follow-up to their 2009 effort 'Humbug', which co-produced by Ford along with Josh Homme. His other production credits include the band's second album 'Favourite Worst Nightmare', Klaxons' 'Myths Of The Near Future' and work on Florence And The Machine's 'Lungs'.
The band are already confirmed to headline Ireland's Oxegen Festival in August and are expected to be confirmed for V Festival as well as further UK events.
Arctic Monkeys are featured in the new issue of NME, on UK newsstands from tomorrow (12) or available digitally.

I prefer to Favourite Worst Nightmare to Whatever People - but both of them are leaps and bounds ahead of Humbug to me.

yeahh I like FWN too , both of them were great albums, there are some Humbug songs I do like actually...but it's not the same , I mean , it's not that I want the same kind of songs over and over again, but I get a different feeling with this ones... I do like slow songs, but not that much when it comes to AM, Humbug songs are way too slow for me, they are not as powerful as their old ones

There where pretty boring to watch on the last tour too - i saw them a couple of times and it just didnt have the feel of the old AM and sadly it transmitted to a lot of the people who went to see them too. Kinda like the band moved on without the fans sorta thing.

yeahh I haven't seen them live but I know what you mean , you can tell that even by watching their videos, their old shows just made you want to sing and dance or atleast move a lil bit and you'd feel like lots of adrenaline running through your veins, but now people seemed to be dead and bored not to mention Alex which looked a bit high to me xD...

Im not a big fan of it - pretty one dimensional song and hopefully not anywhere near going on the next album.

Matt Helders has confirmed that it's gonna be on the next album but that it's not a single.

Youch I hope it's not a sign of things to come otherwise it could be "the beginning of the end!"

I really like the music (Especially the solos.) The lyrics are what they are simple but effective and it's not a though Alex has suddenly lost his lyrical genius (Submarine E.P. samples are Amazing).

I haven't heard the submarine stuff, that's nothing related to AM either tbh, I'm just not a fan of brick by brick and looking around it seems to have split reaction more than I recall any other AM song.
Hopefully it's a one off and they return to form.
