So have you received Colour Of The Trap yet? If so what do you think of it?

    High points/Low points etc? Fave's/Dislikes?

I think out of all the reviews ive read about Colour Of The Trap this one is the one that most sums up the album for me.

  3. Tom Little Flame

I love every song on the album but I wish that Counting Down The Days was more Rock-y, like when he plays it live.

I don't know if its because i heard some of the stuff live before the recorded versions but i struggle to listen to Quicksand (its just too poppy for my liking) and im not a big fan of Happenstance (Miles should have sang it with someone who can actually sing)

Im not keen on the vocals Noel Gallagher provided on My Fantasy - i think Miles would have been better providing them himself.

Other than that i like it with 'Take The Night From Me', 'Counting Down The Days' and 'Colour Of The Trap' are my current faves.

EDIT: Reading this back it sounds like im being hyper critical which isn't the case or my intention.

That reviewer above is a serious Alex Turner cocksucker. Telepathy isn't near one of the best songs off the album but yet he praises it with Alex Turner's "magic touch". Give me a break.

Absolutely delighted with this album, best thing Miles has done in his career so far. Love My Fantasy with Noel's backing vocals putting a great little extra touch on it. The songs we already heard were all brilliant anyway, so no need to talk about them. Take The Night From Me is epic the way it builds and builds, love it ! Happenstance is good but could have been much better. Counting Down The Days has a great chorus. Still constantly playing the album everyday, and the best thing I like about it is the shortness of it, all the songs are roughly 3 1/2 mins each which is pretty cool.

    Interestingly

    Rearrange
    Counting Down The Days
    Happenstance
    Telepathy
    Better Left Invisible
    Colour Of The Trap

Alex Turner is listed as being a co-writer on each of those songs. Barring 'Happenstance' and missing out 'Take The Night From Me' i would say those above are the stronger songs on the album.

I think the review above was just trying to say he should have forged his own material rather than *maybe* relying on Alex which given the Last Shadow Puppets stuff comparisons where always going to be made.

Well, I love it...all of it! I'm a pop fan at heart and Quicksand is a perfect pop gem - very catchy and I love the lyrics...I've been playing the album non-stop since I got it and love each song for different reasons...apart from Quicksand my favorites are Rearrange, Counting Down The Days and Better Left Invisible...but I don't think there's a bad song in the bunch. Well done, Miles!

I disagree slightly with the reviewer you mentioned. I think you can tell the Alex Turner lyrics on the album but they are only odd lines in some of the songs. Alex is more poetic.. i.e 'I want to make your smoke and kisses black and white' is definitely an Alex line in my opinion where as Miles seems to be more straight forward

I love Happenstance! If it was Alex who wrote those lyrics and Sang it would be labelled 'brilliant 'by that reviewer. And Telepathy is another favourite although the production on the song is brilliant I went to see Miles in York the Sunday gone and it sounded just as good live so that reviewer is talking a tad bit of shit. Has he even seen him live? It doesn't sound like he has. Also Take the Night from me is a favourite.. And Inhaler will always be a fave, that must be the Rock N Roll tune of 2010 in my opinion

At the end of the day, Miles is a guitarist and a good guitarist at that, And most lead good guitarists these days are focused on guitar and writing riffs rather than lyrics, so if he still needs help with lyrics then why not use one of the best of our generation, Alex Turner? I see no problem there at all, As long as the riff and vocals sound nice what's the deal? It's pretty clear from The Last Shadow Puppets album, Miles is the better guitarist, Alex is the better lyricist that's why they are such a good band

It's a clean polished produced album that you can tell took a lot of work on the music side and getting it perfect and Miles and all the session producers and musicians deserve credit for putting the time in to make a well above average album, rather than the scruffy sort of albums indie bands put out these days

Being Rearrange one of my favs, I consider the mix on the album a bit overproduced, laking the punch it has on some live Sessions like at RAK Studios or the latest SUN BIZ Session.
On the other hand, the ballads have surprised me very pleasantly and cannot decide on Coulour of the Trap or Happenstance as my fav.
    Triple Great Job, Miles !!!
  10. come_closer Rascal

Possibly one of my favourite albums ever, everything about it is just class and I'm really loving the groovy Lennon vibes
  11. I have to say this album surpassed even my high expectations. It never tires and I think every song is brilliant. Hearing the songs live a few times helped too but i must say this beats any release of 2011 for me.
  12. YourOnlyDoll blinded by nostalgia

i totally agree with this. Clémence Poésy should just keep on acting, and stay as far away from the mic as possible.
i'm pretty sure i could have done better than her..

(well maybe not, but you know what i mean)

I disagree with the reviewer as I think it's a great album...one of the best in fact. It's been one of the very few albums where I listen to at least one of the tracks every day! And usually, when I listen to one, I listen to the whole thing again and again! I can't put it down and it's been weeks now. I love this album and if it's going to go down as 'not particularly good' then I can't wait for Miles to come out with an excellent one in the opinion of the reviewer! :D
